Work!

Hey Everybody!
I just have a few minutes to write this as I have to get ready and rush off to university for work. Actually, there’s this Space Utilisation Survery being conducted and I am a part of it. I will be monitoring and making a list of the number of occupants in each room in the building throughout the day according to the schedule provided to us.
Yesterday, I went volunteering and we had a staff meeting - met up with the rest of the people - was nice. I’m going to start writing job descriptions for each role now and after that design some policies and procedures for the organisation.
Classes are going good. Just waiting for Easter Holidays now smile.
I will write back again soon.
Hope you’re all well.
Cheers.

Go Green!!

Hi everyone,
I have been busy with university and volunteering and therefore could not write back sooner. I had a live session of farmville smile - went out to a community garden centre with my university’s volunteering team to help out gardening. It was so much fun!! And is always good to meet some new people. I’ve also started volunteering at an orgnaization which is a virtual and physical launch pad for creative and ethical exchange, run by local community artists and academics. They run workshops on being more ethically and environmentally sound. One of the courses is starting today which consists of sessions on how to reduce your carbon footprint, computer re-cycling, ethical textiles and much more. My carbon footprint and lifestyle suggests that if everyone in the world were to live like myself, we would require 2.57 planets big surprise so making an effort to reduce that now and look forward to learn more from the course.
We have an event tomorrow for raising funds for the relief effort in Haiti. Hopefully, I will be attending that.
Have to hand in one of my assignments today and then we’re done with that course. Yayyy!! smile
Got some work to do now.
Catch you guys later!! wink

Well Stressed!

I’m repeating my title but guess I don’t have a choice. I really am extremely stressed.  grrr  I have an assignment due in tomorrow which I am still working on. An induction session to attend at 11:30am which I don’t have the energy to tell you about right now. And right after that I’ve got my french class for which I still have to do my homework.  oh oh I had not been well toward the end of the red week so couldn’t get much done. And Monday and Tuesday, busy with lectures and tutorials and weekly assignments. Well, I guess I’m off now - have to wake up early morning. I will write again soon in a couple of days to report back more.  tongue rolleye
Stay well!

Discoveries

Hi Everybody,
This week has been quite hectic but worth it.  Attended the Education for Sustainable Living forum on Thursday which was quite informative and productive. Also discussed the agenda for the Go Green Week coming up on February 22nd - looking forward to that.  smile There was an Iranian Culture Week going on last week which I attended on Friday at the Manchester Islamic Institute - so glad to have discovered that place as I also got to know about an important religious event being held at the same place the next day which I got to be a part of then. Sunday was Chinese New Year and as Manchester has one of the largest Chinese communities in the UK, it celebrates Chinese New Year with a colourful parade around Albert Square which goes through the famous China Town. There was the traditional dragon dance and plenty of stalls. Went out with a couple of friends to see that - was fun.  grin
I registered myself onto the the Volunteering opportunities with MMU and attended the induction session yesterday. There are some nice opportunities, one of which I have already booked myself for - will tell you about it soon - it’s within MMU which is a one day event. I’ve also applied to another organisation.
Other than that, the regular: reading, cooking, cleaning, groceries, laundry. Yes, I did some sketching too and a bit of guitar practice.  smile
Now I’m off to do my french homework - class tomorrow as I told you last week, french is still on during Reading Week.  tongue rolleye
So see you guys later.  wink
All the best and prayers.  cheese

Runnnnn!!! :)

Hey everyone!
I’m just getting ready to go out for a run.  smile Woke up early for prayers, had some cereal and going out for a run in a bit. After I get back, I need to fix my room, have some more breakfast tongue laugh and get ready for Uni. Have two lectures and a tutorial today. One of the lectures being my favorite: Business & Sustainability. I really like my course tutor as well - I enjoy her teaching style as she makes it so interesting and easy to understand everything.  smile
And yes, the exciting bit of my day is that I’m getting back to some of my art stuff today. Woohoo!! Will tell you guys once I get at it. When I go out now, I’m going to buy myself the required stuff I need for it. One of these days in the week, I also plan to stop over at the Student’s Union to see what’s going on - might join some interesting club if I feel I have the time to manage everything at the same time as I’m going to be extremely busy very soon with all the coursework, assignments, exams coming up. My french exam is in March!!!!!!  big surprise  Have a presentation to deliver and a written paper!!  gulp
Oh guess what, it’s Red Week next week. No lectures!!  raspberry - Guess we’ll still have french though.
And by the way, I am loving my new book!! wink
Write to you again soon!! Take care everyone and have a great day ahead!!  grin

The Usual

Hiya!
I got back to Manchester on Sunday. My trip to London was quite good once again. Sorted out my stuff and had loads of fun with my friends - watched movies and played games at home, went bowling, out for meals and walks around Central London - was quite exciting. Oh yeah, cooked for my friends - fried chicken. Also, met up with a cousin of mine whom I couldn’t meet up with the last time - was good to catch up with her smile . Will probably need to go back again in March to apply for the U.S Visa so I can visit my family over the summers. I’m back to my routine now. Lectures, tutorials, weekly assignments. Excited to go into my French class tomorrow. wink.
It’s quite late here now. I brought some books home from the library yesterday for my Law & Employment Relationship assignment. And guess what!! One of my friends sent me the biography of one of my favorite authors - Paulo Coelho. Started reading that today - was so excited to recieve the mail.  grin I also received the Shell Sustainability Report in the mail today that I had requested from Shell for one of my courses.
Looking forward to tomorrow morning - got loads to do.  cool smile
One of Paulo Coelho’s quotes:
“Whenever we need to make a very important decision it is best to trust our instincts, because reason usually tries to remove us from our dream, saying that the time is not yet right. Reason is afraid of defeat, but intuition enjoys life and its challenges.”

Busy!

Hiya!
Been really busy in London. Had to sort out some stuff. Been staying over at my friend’s place - came over to my Uncle/ Aunt’s today. I watched Avatar 3D with my friends which was absolutely fantastic!! Went to Slough over the weekend to meet up with some other friends - was fun - watched movies at home - learnt some new recipes, played games and went to the park!
Played games on Wii with my aunt today smile and went out for dinner to Mirch Masala - it was delish especially the fried fish.
I’m also doing some research on my next assignment which is for Employment Relations - I have two topics to choose from - I think I’ll go with Employee Engagement instead of Trade Unions.
It’s sort of late now and I’m sleepy so I will write back later. smile
Hope you’re all doing great!!
Cheers

Life!

Sitting alone in my room, gazing out the window, watching the cars race by from morning to evening, people always on the go in the hustle and bustle of the city, sometimes makes me wonder what life really is all about. We all have our puposes in life - wordly and divine - what is our divine purpose? Have you ever wondered? I believe we all, at some point of our lives ponder over why we’re actually here. What is this world? Why was it created? Why were we sent on earth? Well, this was just some food for thought.
I am up and studying - it’s pretty late at night. Miss my family :(. There’s one good news though - I’m going to London again this Thursday - need to get some work done. Hence, excited to see my friends and relatives again. The weather was quite pleasant these past few days - enjoyed some sunshine as well cool smile
Actually, I have some more good news - I did pretty well on my assignments in Term 1 smile. Excited about Term 2 now wink.
A quote:
“You are the people who are shaping a better world. One of the secrets of inner peace is the practice of compassion.” (Dalai Lama)

Snowy!!

Hey everybody!!  cheese
Sorry I was supposed to write back earlier to detail you guys about my trip to London.  oh oh Just been busy with Uni and assignments but guess what!! The submission of one of my assignments which was due in this week got postponed by a week due to the bad weather conditions!!  raspberry It was great news for all the students as everyone was stressed - it is a pretty tough assignment but definitely quite interesting for me as it deals with the current issues and updates on learning and development, an area I firmly support!!  cool smile
London was fantastic - I’m absolutely in love with the city! We went to see the fireworks at London Eye on New Year’s Eve. The energy was amazing.  wink Really enjoyed the night out with BBC Live!
One of the days, my friend and I took the Big Bus Open-Top Sightseeing Tour and took the City River Cruise the next day. Had a really exciting time and it was so good to meet my friends and relatives. I look forward to going back again soon!!  smile After I got back, I just relaxed for a bit, practiced my guitar, went out shopping - you get the best sales at this time of the year.  cool smirk and just studied. It was good to have my flatmates back on Sunday.  smile
I’m going to go job-hunting once it stops snowing. When it’s snowing, it does look beautiful but pretty difficult to deal with the aftermath. Miss the sun!!  long face
I’m going to do some reading now so will catch you later.  wink

Hey everyone!!
My journey to London was pretty smooth. It’s nice to meet some family so really enjoying my time here.  smile My aunt’s mother - who is like my grandma is also here - so good to be with her. She’s making me nice food everyday wink . There are lots of kids around too so having fun with them playing games and watching movies.  LOL  I plan to meet up with an old friend of mine from back home too. She doesn’t live too far from where I’m staying at. Let’s see what we plan to do on new year’s.  smile . It’s good to be relaxing but I’m soon going to start worrying about my assignment that’s due in as soon as we get back for Term 2. Well, I better get going now - will write more later.

Happy Holidays!!

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!  grin It feels so good to be free from everything cool smile . My presentation on the last day of uni was superb!! I had a great day and when I was walking back home, it started snowing - it was beautiful - the first snow of the season smile. I couldn’t make it to the Jeremy Kyle show though - but no worries - I was just glad how well the presentation went!!  cool smile
I hung out with a friend of mine for a couple of days before she left for home - We went to see the Christmas Markets - it was pouring down completely as well as windy and then it started snowing again too. And so I got a cold sick.  I’ve been relaxing in my flat by myself reading a novel, talking to family and friends and having hot chocolate whilst watching “Friends”. Went out for some shopping today though - was nice to spend some time out.  smile
I’m going to London this weekend for a week or so to meet a few relatives and friends - excited about that wink
I’ll keep you guys posted.
Merry Christmas Everyone!!  grin
Cheers.

Assignments!!

Hi everybody! I hope you’re all doing well. I have been extremely busy with my assignments. A portfolio was due in this Monday – stayed at the library till midnight the night before to finish it off and perfect it for submission. It was quite an interesting and extensive assignment involving a portfolio and a summary with it. I particularly enjoy this module due to the nature of the subject. It’s called Business & Sustainability and deals with green issues in relation to businesses. The summary part is due next week.
Our flat looks quite exquisite with the Christmas decorations, the candles smell absolutely amazing and we’ve been relaxing with old Christmassy movies every other night – last night was Home Alone – love it every time! smile
Went to town with my friends to the see the Christmas Markets – the shops and streets packed – it’s a great time of the year – everyone’s in a good mood, buying presents for their loved ones and making preparations for the festivities. Happiness is in the air!!  smile .
I have a French Lesson today – A little stressed about my exam which is next week – need to work really hard for it. Besides that, yes the Managing People’s final assignment for this term which is a poster presentation is also due next week so my next week’s pretty exciting!!  downer
But I will have all the time to relax over the holidays – so quite looking forward to it!  smile

The Pressure’s Building Up!!

This has been an extremely busy and stressful week. With the days approaching fast toward the end of the first term, the pressure’s building up. I have an assignment due in today and so woke up at 7:30am; I will be so relieved once I submit it. It was quite an assignment – a lot of research work involved. But this is just the beginning, many more to go – exams as well as assignments!

To take a break, this past Friday I went out with my friends to watch the movie 2012 – was quite entertaining and thrilling with its unrelenting pace and breathtaking special effects. Although I disagree with the way it was concluded.

I’m so in love with my guitar – has made my room so full of life – my escape, my companion LOL . Really enjoy every moment with it.

I think I should get back to my assignment now to give it some final touches. Will write more soon.
